Running On Empty
Informational Design

This informational graphic visualizes data from 2017–2019, showcasing the disparities vehicle residents living in residential vehicles (RVs) regularly face to strict parking regulations within the Seattle area.

ROE-Assets-Scofflaw

The Seattle tech boom has pushed low income families and individuals out of their homes, with many resorting to seeking shelter in their vehicles. Parking regulations in Seattle condemn these individuals, causing them to fall vulnerable to scofflaw.

This infographic explains scofflaw in depth, with factual data that acknowledges the majority of vehicle residents in Seattle, their vulnerability to receiving parking violations, what tickets they are most susceptible to, and a demonstration of annual costs the city is paying to regulate these vehicles.

To those seeking shelter in their vehicle, it is not just a means of transportation, but a home. Unless the city is able to provide proper solutions to support these communities, these individuals continue to run out of options for stable living, in turn, are left running on empty.
